I want to introduce you all to a very promising new label out of Perm, Russia: CONSTaNTa.
We met through Last.fm, and I became fascinated with their unique sounding releases, so I'm very happy to present a new sound work on the label called текучести, which transliterates to "tekuchesti" (in English, "fluidity").

I've always wanted to create a collection of short pieces - and i enjoy that challenge a lot - but I've been searching for ways to make it special instead of just another set of little sonic farts. The earthquake less than 10 miles from us this summer happened while I was writing and conceptualizing this piece, and combined with the sheer amount of physical earth between me and central Russia, the themes of raw minerals and slices of the earth hit home even harder. I describe the symbolism of tectonics and fluidity in the liner notes, read the full thing on my blog: link
It's also definitely inspired by projects like it, Naked City's Torture Garden and Ilkae's Pistachio Island especially, though each completely different in sound.
As you may have guessed, it's meant to be played on shuffle. You're even welcomed to improvise with it in a live setting. Not that it can't be enjoyed "in order", but it's a different listening experience altogether.
I liken it to having a shelf of minerals and gemstones on the window sil, that appear different every time you pass depending on what's happening through the window.
