there is junk everywhere in life. you just have to ignore it.

doubt you'll get many features with the free account anyway.

There's one thing we haven't yet told people outside of SoundCloud, and that is that we're going to offer PRO accounts for purchase when we launch. There will be three levels of accounts; PRO Light, PRO Standard and PRO Max. There will still be a free account but will have certain limits .

And now to the point: As a thanks for helping us with the beta test, we'd like to give you a PRO Light account for 3 months (€27 value)!

been enjoying it a lot as well.. we'll see how it goes, i even got a Pro Max account for 3 months, so I'm not gonna complain!

if it turns into junk, competition will spring up that's junk free, dont worry. look at virb.com as a junk free and quiet (some would say sedate) alternative to the myspace horror

yah i think maybe i'll get a virb if this doesn't work out. i don't really see any advantage to my pro account right now, i'm only gonna upload a very select few tracks there, don't want to flood, but everyone's gonna do it anyways

yeah, what's the deal, the pro can upload 15 tracks a month... and a regular? will you be able to upload at all?

i've always seen soundcloud as an alternative to those file sharing things like yousendit not as an alternative to myspace or the like.

its very powerful as a tool for sharing private music files for criticism, feedback, collaboration with other users that you actually know. i don't see that changing once they open up to the public.

The commenting on the songs will soon resemble youtube's

It seems like there is room for different communities. Some people will use it for self promotion, others will use it for trading files with friends, etc.
I'm not happy with how expensive it is. $12 per month for the Pro Light adds up to almost as much as I pay for premium web hosting w/ infinite disc space and bandwidth. It would be cool if you could keep your files on your own server and let the SoundCloud interface hotlink from there (like em411 ;)

I just signed up and am excited to check it out. No way in hell am I paying that much for a Pro Account, tho.

but you only get updates on people you follow right? so don't click on follow for anyone (unless its collab partner) and you won't get pushed tons of social networking-esque updates everytime you login.

also, if you set your tracks to private and only share them with certain people, only those people can comment on them right?

i think in my other post both sentences should have been in the same paragraph to avoid confusion. i mean with its new features, its a good alternative to yousendits.

ooh i do like soundcloud- graphs! pie charts!
