--> Welcome to the first edition of the Neo Ouija Newsletter.

First off we wanted to remind you that our new 2CD compilation Diaspora: Cottage Industries 5 is available as digital download on all major platforms starting today October 24th. Physical copies of the release should start showing up in retail stores and mailorders beginning next week, wider availability is expected in November. So far, we have gotten an overwhelming response to the relaunch and we'd like to thank everyone that has been on board for this. This is the first of a series of monthly newsletters designed to keep you updated about Neo Ouija's activities.

Diaspora: Cottage Industries 5 (2cd / digital, 10/24/08)

After a 3-year hiatus, Diaspora: Cottage Industries 5 marks the return of the pioneering electronic music label Neo Ouija. Renowned for its critically acclaimed album releases and the Cottage Industries compilation series, Neo Ouija now offers a glimpse of things to come. A lot of time and consideration went into selecting 30 tracks by an international cast of musicians to celebrate the labelʻs relaunch. The result? A massive 2CD-Set that takes you on an epic journey through contemporary electronic music.

The first disc surprises with a flurry of melodic techno by ways of MXMʻs „The Untitled Deep“ and Benjamin Brunnʻs sublime remix of the Move D classic „Anne Will“. Despite this change of pace, the vibe remains true to the labelʻs trademark blend of melodic grooves and widescreen soundscapes. Whether itʻs Move Dʻs (City Centre Offices, Modern Love) machine-funk-opus „Spacerckr“, the sun-drenched Dub of „DPoles“ by Fluxion (Chain Reaction) or the steady groove of up-and-coming Dutch producer Dave Huismans (aka A Made Up Sound), the music on Diaspora: Cottage Industries 5 oozes with character while effortlessly taking Neo Ouijaʻs sound to the next level.

The second CD showcases the playful side of the label: Neo Ouijaʻs own version of braindance blissfully finds a balance between intricate rhythms and atmospheric sound design. In addition to exclusive tracks by old friends of the label like Maps and Diagrams, Sense and Seven Ark, the compilation also features unreleased material by Kangding Ray (Raster-Noton) and nq (Kitty-Yo, Progressive Form).

Diaspora: Cottage Industries 5 manages to bring musicians together that youʻd never expect to appear on the same label, let alone compilation. Thatʻs just one of the reasons why itʻs great to have Neo Ouija back.
