Best Pro Sound Mod ever. XLR output on Gameboy

Done by Low-Gain over at 8bc.org

that rx17 is hot! where do my babies come out of it?

Videos of my Two mods:
Roland SH101 link and TR606 link

There's more to my 101 than that, but not everything is quickly configurable. It also has Triangle FM mod which sounds like this: link

what, no devilfish?
nice breakout though...and that 101 looks clean.

Thanks. I wish I had the knowledge of Robin Whittle to do something like the Devilfish. Also, it's not always as cheap as you might think to do these mods. Those two rotary switches on the 101 cost me $25 each. I've seen better mods of those two machines on youtube, but it's all in good fun. At least I've got some decent "enhancements" for them.

I've got a cheap hookup for NOS rotary switches and the like.
25 breaks the bank for me...

Nice work on the RX-17! It's a personal fave of mine as well.
plus some others...

here's my sick ass modded 909. includes trigger switches and a bunch of extra tonal controls.

did you do that 909 yourself?
got a silkscreening kit that you like for the labels?

i did it. the labels aren't silkscreened, they're made with a little label maker called a "p-touch" that they had at my old job. it's pretty nice for this kind of thing but i think the ink and tape cartridges are kind of expensive, like $30 each. i guess for occasional projects it wouldn't get that bad though. oh, the other thing that annoyed me is that printing a single label wastes a lot of tape, so that you have to buy it more often. i used to print a bunch of labels on one strip, then cut them out.

i had a label maker, but the translucent tape stuff that it printed on (instead of the boring white) had terrible stickyness...it was a dymo which are pretty reliable, but yes those cartridges are super pricey for these things...and the fonts on mine are rather limited in size and style.

yeah, same with this one. i think it might just be better to get some kind of robust shiny adhesive paper that you can print on with any old printer.

imma try printing on clear contact paper w/ my bubblejet

My friend James Anderson aka Polar Ice Caves. I used to work at a movie theatre with him:

Not exactly professional mods, but that's really not the point! I loved his circuit bent stuff, I don't think he does much anymore, but his basement is filled with great thrift store finds.

If you want to get into it, the best thing to do is buy a battery powered kids keyboard and go crazy with it. Just take the cover off, turn it on, get a beat going and start putting your hands on the circuit board and try to make it glitch out. Don't bother doing any research into electronics or anything, that just ruins the fun!

Every one of those links were embedded when I did a preview! Whatever. polaricecaves is his name on youtube.
