Well here's a classic example of a perfectly good idea buggarized around.

Start with the original classic (and still the best) and they can't just leave it alone. It staqrted out like nothing that'd ever been on television before and by the end it sounds like everything else that's on television.

WTF happened around the 5 min mark? Did some guy who usually makes music for theatre and musicals get hold of it? It really lost its way after that, not to say it wasnt wobbling a bit before.

Good to see the intros - Jon Pertwee -> Tom Baker was the best period, for me.

im old enough to remember tom baker and k9
most things turn to shit over time
its become like an unfunny comedy
it used to be pretty dark sometimes

jeez, even the graphics got lame.

Delia Darbyshire is rolling in her grave...god the one at 5 minutes is beyond terrible...

haha. or should that be boo hoo?

doctor who?

the first one i remember was Sylvester McCoy.
i used to watch it religiously, for about a year...then i got sucked in by... QUANTUM LEAP!!!!!

evolution of the music is pretty much analogous to the evolution of the show. Theme music is as unlistenable now as the show is unwatchable.

Love Tom Baker... The theme for Doctor # 6 is awful..

lol
it's all pretty fine, gets a little iffy, but then the fake orchestra comes in at 4:50 at it's fucking hideous.

the problem that they all run into is that they can't change much about the first part of the theme, so they dive on the part where it turns major. the originial turned major in such a spooky, understated way, that it's almost like an afterthought, a development. all these other eager composers grab that like "AHA THAT'S WHERE I MAKE MY MARK" and uncoil their fat synth turds. shocking.

the problem starts when they try to make the doctor "working class"

jesus was working class.
not the doctor.

I like the KLF version of the song
