ghettoblaster burned alive this morning

this morning at around 5:45 I woke up from an actual dream I was having where I was waiting for my kaoss pad to come, and looked over at my coffee table where half of my boombox was on fire.
I jumped out of bed, grabbed the record sleeve that was burning and waved it out, and actually blew out the fire on the boombox (like birthday candles)
i had set my candelabra on the boombox before going to sleep a couple of hours before and was burning a candle, i guess some hot wax got inside the boombox or something and that's what set it on fire. this isn't just a tiny boombox though it's a 23"x15" thing, pretty big.
i'm actually REALLY thankful that a) I woke up in time before the fire got bigger and killed me and my household, and b) the ghetto blaster was the only thing that got destroyed (besides the record sleeve)
I also want to mention that I had just finished recording a Hot Track through it the night before. maybe that's what really happened. and also i cut my foot on something on the ground and bled all over my bear rug while i was trying to get the flames out. so at least that part's cool
all in all it was pretty crazy, waking up to see flames engulfing something 3 feet from your bed. now i can't go back to sleep | |

fire and electronics don't mix. I had an extension cord that exploded once...it was on top of my cd binder and melted a little way through. If it had been on the carpet i would have lost everything (possibly my life). I cut off the exploded part and kept it to remind me how goddamn lucky I am.

ha you're right. weird thing is, it was like totally silent while everything was happening, i can't remember any noise at all. i guess i was pretty groggy and acting in survival mode, like i had just woken up and some of my brain functions hadn't really kicked in yet but my body took over to put out the fire. especially because after all the fire was out i couldn't find a bunch of things like where the record sleeve was, and i couldn't really remember how big the fire was or anything.
but hey i made it to spanish this morning (my most missed class)
also i am a bit superstitious, why?
