--> Did a live on Sunday night with Coppe and the kitchen cynic at dress in akihabara. it was great fun!

in the first pic you can see Coppe in action on the nail violin - a large resonant box with over 50 tuned nails of various sizes in it. it is played by coating the fingers in rosin and tweaking the heads of the nails. we had it mic'd into my laptop, and it was making some really wierd noises.

sadly no, i do have a studio recording of it somewhere, i'll try and post it up here at some point.

the tall guy is in fact an animatronic puppet operated by me from under the table....

yeah...i'm the tall one...

Oh man. I really wish I could hear this show. I love Coppe. Thanks for turning me on to her from your post about her long ago.

NO RECORDING?!?!

nice pix tho mang........1......1....

yeah - i wanted to make a recording of the gig...but there were 3 other bands on after us (we were the warm up to a gothic/shoegaze/punk event), and our sound guy (the very talented bass player - jakey/the kitchen cynic) was harrassed enough trying to get the mackie grouped outputs to the right DI boxes - so i didn't want to bother him for another set of outs.

it was a strange event... as far as i could tell from the sound check, all the other bands were firmly into rrrrrock (no bad thing, of course!). unfortunately, i didn't get to meet any of the other band members, as they all seemed to be very, very serious....and i guess because i had a laptop and no guitar, i wasn't a proper musician.

never mind. my only real experiences of playing live have been in japan - and this was the first time with a load of "proper" bands instead of laptoppers/hardwarers - so i'm not sure if the atmosphere was anything to do with the style of music or just general japaneseness.

usually when i play with other japanese electronix dudes, we manage to have a good chat before or after the gig, but then that's usually in a club, and not a "live house", like this one was.

the setup looks good, i wish i could hear something.. :-(
Did the audience enjoy your music? What about this Coppe? I heard one track by you and her but and I don't remember anything about the girl. I loved the track actually.
Hey post up the music man!!! It looks really fun and exciting. Do the japanese rock bunch have a negative view on laptoppers?

nice images. are you touring as well? or just local. good stuff!

yeah - once again, i'm sorry there's no samples - i'm going to record some more stuff with her in future (hopefully).
bluer - I might be able to get her to slip a vocal into that MEP remix, if that's cool with you - she's got a great voice.

we're not touring, but she's doing a european tour v. soon - next month, i believe

i'm really not sure about j-rock. all of the bands there we're using laptops for backing/incidental sounds.

i think they just weren't into my music
