i have just had the pleasure of mastering the debut album by ultre - soon to become the next audiobulb release on cd
his music is everything i have dreamed of hearing let alone releasing
intricate percussives, piano, guitar, violin, handmade instruments and subtle electronics woven through a true modern compositional style
absolutely amazing sounds with arrangements that take the tunes in and out of sections of feeling based upon compositional changes, pace changes and instrument changes
ultre (finn mcnicholas) is a truely talented individual who has a natural talent given his relatively young age, but coutless band appearances and work within digital media and touring with members of the warp and planet mu crowd have rounded him into what i firmly believe to be the next great within this genre
this album does not look back > it merely integrates many aspects of what has gone before effortlessly into finns very personal style
i'll keep you updated - this is going to be BIG

that description is mouth watering. but when i listened to some clips on the site it was mainly electronic with very little acoustic stuff mixed in.
guess i'll have to check out the album.

those myspace tracks are great. A fresh vision for IDM i'd say. the overkill track is good too, but a little less exciting/fresh.

agreed - - sounds really fresh even through the crappy myspace player - - can't wait to get hold of a complete album in a proper audio format - - how many tracks will there be on the album ? or is it an ep? ::.dot.::

Glad you are all feeling it
Finn is a genuine talent i n my view - he can play piano, guitar and violin beutifully - he is grafting all the time - he has developed and made his own instruments out of metal and wire - a huge bow like instrument that is wired up via a contact mike
When he is not writing music he is working on animation features
He presented audiobulb with 34 tracks from which 12 were selected to represent his first album > the quality was amazing and he just does not stop writing > Its great to feel this excited about a "new" artist
I'll keep you updated about the album release....
