Me, Juice, The Circuit Breakers, Sysb and Pwnicus played at "the local" in chattanooga on 9.15.06, the circuitbreakers invited me from decatur and I pointed them at pwnicus, and he was invited as well. I'm not sure how sysb got invited. We all met at Jason's house (one circuit breaker) at about 6:35, except for Juice, who was late because I got time-zones confused.(whoopsy!) We went to the bar at about 7:30 to set up, and the place was glorious! filthy carpet, stale smoke, dirty characters, and sweet, sweet pabst blue ribbon was 1.50 a cup! we played in this sort of basment thing at the back of the bar, but it had a stage, a great P.A, Some decent monitors, and a delegated sound guy. (whom I will piss off a little before the night is done, him being one of about 3) Originally, the line-up was sans juice, but I begged jason to let him open, and the plucky little devil played for about 4-5 people other than the performers and his peeps. SHIEEEAT NIg-GUHH, he towe it UP! He was a great performer and everyone there dug it like chocolate pudding! By the time sysb started setting up, at least 15 people were there. I hung around for about 5 min after he started playing, then I realized his jungle sounded just like every thing else "jungle" .And I remembered the dude's a jerk. Sysb brought a very amatur MC who barely rapped at all, and what I heard wasn't very good. I went upstairs got some PBR and played a southpark pinball machine. I fucking LOVE pinball.. still upstairs, Me and juice chewed the shit a little while. Once sysb finished up, I went downstairs and remembered that I wanted to use michael's (other one of the circuit breakers) oxygen 8 for my show, and god bless'em, he let me do it. So I quickly installed the drivers (with some difficulty) and assigned some parameters to the keys and knobs. nothing fancy, effects and a few triggers. while I was doing this, pwnicus took the stage.It was his first time and I was wondering how nervous he was. Pwnicus is pretty new at making music and he has some development to go as far as style and technique (who doesn't honestly), but I really dig the stuff he does. It's basically dnb/jungle, but he definitly has his own style. The few times i actually looked up from my screen, he had a big grin on his face.
Then it was my turn and I rocked the fuck out! In fact, I rocked the fuck out so hard, that I apparently broke one of the cables I brought, so I was in mono for a little bit there.(actually a good bit) I ended up replacing the cable in the middle of my set,.....aaaand then I broke it again. I need better cables. juice drunkenly told me that some people were making fun of us so I called them out around the end of my set.(too much wisconfidence) This was a mistake. one of the guys walked up to me after my set and said. "You know what? I wasn't making fun of you,and I really liked your music man, so FUCK YOU! and FUCK ALABAMA!...which made me feel really bad at first, then I realized it was kinda punk-rock so I felt a little better. Besides, he said: "I really liked your music FUCK YOU!" and that's an achievement. However, I felt even worse when I learned it was a friend of Jason's... Unfortunately, I didn't get any footage of me, because I was too busy setting up software to delegate someone to record me, and for some reason, my mini disk recorder crapped out right before I started playing. too much awesome I imagine. Janette was tired, and I had a four hour drive ahead of me, so I had to bail out about 10 min into the circuit breaker's set. which sucked because I really like them. They were dropping this ACE hardcore gabber shit! and I'm really sorry I missed them.
..about 60% success I'd say.
if you want to see the rematch of this show,Juice, The Circuit Breakers, Pwnicus,(MAYBE sysb...) and I will be playing again on jan 12th in huntsville AL
