Is there any software out there that is free/cheap that creates faithful acid sequences and outputs midi? The only thing close are some Reaktor ensembles I've found, but I don't own teh Reaktor.
If there isn't how would you suggest creating one in say Max/Msp? I can wrap my head around making a basic sequencer, but what is involved conceptually with slide circuit. I know that it has a fixed time regardless of note distance, but what math is needed to recreate it in Max?

For a 303 style slide, doesn't it have to start and end at fixed notes?
So what I would be doing hypothetically is every time I trigger a slide, my patch would take the start and end note (as a reference), interpolate between them (using the line object), then convert that interpolation to the proportional amount of pitch bend. The end result would hopefully be a smooth slide.

if you want to use midi notes only: the better is to manage it with a midi sequence and portamento on the synth hwich is fed by your midi seq...
that's what i do with any midi sequencer and my microkorg for example...

yeah, just make the gates overlap and set the synth to slide at the right speed.

Cool, that makes it a hell of a lot easier. I was still thinking that the 303 had a unique glide circuit. Thanks again...

i think you can do some cool stuff with the futureretro xs accents. you probably already know. definitely seems to expand on the unique 303 character in a very interesting way.

Yeah, the XS should be amazing (it's on it's way and I should have it next week). I still need to fully wrap my head around the envelopes and how to exploit them in cool ways, but that should come quick.
Seems like the perfect synth for an acid sequencer. I still don't understand the lack of them out there in the software world. It's such an easy way to get interesting results.

Last time I checked, Audiorealism Bassline didn't send out midi slide (overlapping notes). I just took a look and it finally does in the latest version 2.1.
It's a little pricey just to use as a seq but would definitely work, thanks. I might just go on with making a Max patch for educational purposes.

I just got the XS yesterday and it's incredible...
It's super easy to get great acid lines with simple velocity modulation and overlapping notes. Reverse accents are also incredible (moderate attack, zero decay). Quite possibly the best acid synth ever!!
A dedicated sequencer is probably redundant, but I started one in Max anyway. Thanks again for all the help .

Damm it just get an ABL, they got the SEQ licked...plus you can create songs put some overdrive on it and tell everyone it was an oakley midibox diy 303 job...i always notice where a 303 clones shortcomings are the creator never fails to douse it with Dist!

Haven't tried outputting MIDI with it but Phoscyon does it. It's about €60 but it sounds really good
