Hello all. I'm looking to reproduce the sound of vinyl slowing down without having to have something actually cut to vinyl and slowed down. I'm sure that there are some VST effects available. I'm looking more to do this in my DAW (Cubase) using some combination of techniques than using a VST effect, but I'm open to anything. Really what I'm looking for is a realistic sound and some way to control the speed at which the virtual record slows down. I presume that slowing the pitch using a resampling method rather than a tempo preserved method would approximate what I'm trying to do, but when you slow vinyl down, the pitch falls, but it is so smooth. It may be something that I simply cannot do digitally, but any advice or secret techniques would be fantastic.

You can try dblue's TapeStop
link

I will check that out. Currently, I am at work. I'm looking to use automation with whatever solution I use. Hopefully this follows automation well. Thanks.

I like this guys tapestop better than dblues: link

Thanks. I'll check that out as well. I knew there would be some VSTs for this...

it's au (mac) only though, so i don't know if that's any use to you.

cbit,
Unfortunately, I'm Windows only at the moment. I'm kicking myself for not buying a Mac Pro when I built my new computer. I could have done it... *Sigh*
