google, i mean, seriously.
also, i've been seeing more and more of these things live and it's kinda making me sick.

sick good or sick bad...or sick jealous?

In a nutshell, the monomachine allows you to sequence note on and off triggers, lfo, amplifier envelope and filter envelope triggers, all independently. You can also lock any synthesis parameter to a desired value at each step of the pattern. There is no sequencer like it that I know of, and the synth section is pretty cool also. It can send midi. It has an on off switch. I recommend downloading the manual. Not only does it clearly explain the details of of the monomachine, it will restore your faith in electronic instrument design. It did for me a least.

what he said..

you should just go out and buy some whores and coke. Then your beats will be as phat as aphex's.

US price is going up $100 in May.

Amazing sequencer......

I am really into this instrument. totally has me fucked.

the price is going UP? is it because of exchange rates?

over-hyped and over-priced. it IS a fancy groovebox but does offer some slightly better than average sequencing. personally i hate nearly all digital gear so i'm a little biased.

nice review

i would buy a second one if i had the bling

it's a synthesizer. honestly.. the word "groovebox" has never come to mind when using the monomachine. grooveboxes are full of crappy samples and lame fx etc. the monomachine has pure synthesis under it's hood and a very wicked hands on sequencer + a 6 track midi sequencer for sequencing other midi gear.

sure, there's hype but much of it is deserved.. also, it's a boutique synth company.. not roland or yamaha.. they make small runs of these so of course it's gonna be a little spendy (everything is expensive for americans these days) but i don't think its unreasonable and i'd pay more for one as there is nothing else out there like it. i've written entire songs on just the monomachine. it's fucking great. calling it a 'groovebox' means you haven't used one or if you have you didn't spend enough time with it.

imo.. groovebox is a generic term ppl apply to nearly anything with a step sequencer. the current korg esx1 is a nice box too and has alot of similarities to the machinedrum.. but the machinedrum is the obvious next step up the chain from an esx. both a good boxes with alot of control and options. the machine drum is really elaborate. it has modules.. similar to what you would think of in a vsynth or a modular host like buzz, reaktor, etc. where you have a machine that is focused on a certain type of sound or effect and u can chain them together and this is per part, so it can get really deep. it also has midi machines that are soley for sequencing midi tracks out to other synths, etc. instruments like these are laptop replacements and are workstations in disguise with really intuitive interfaces.
