or just a little software app that overlays your controllers on your vst screen?

you see, when using a controller,
with one controller Im running out of knobs,
with another, there are just too many of them to remember which does which
reassigning them on screen in the lay out of the knob box itself would be helpful

correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't live do pretty much the easiest midi mapping ever? click midi click the control then move the slider...jobs done? Does it get any easier than that?
What does automap have to offer?

its kind of the same thing, only from the perspective of the controller.
especially talking about the little gui element.
you have a screen that mimicks your controller.
just easier to remember that way imo

i had a remote sl zero and eh...i never used automapping...i found it more of an inconvenience that you had to have duplicates of your audiounits/vsts to do it. And i realized i'd rarely if ever need all my parameters mapped out.
the idea was cool, but it really didn't apply to my workflow.

You mean you have to go into your VST/AU folder and duplicate your plugins to use automap? Why? If so, that's just silly...

Well, you have to use the automap variation of your plugins...which is just a copy of your plugin that you use for automap...i found it annoying and i never ended up using them because i'd have to replace my plugin because i'd forget to add the automap variation of the plugin.

No i did not update my driver Zanf (thanx for the heads up). My Laptop is banned from internet. I'll hook it up to my pc and check out what the fuz is about...The nice thing about auto mapping is you dont have to select an isntrument but you can scroll truh your memory and select the instrument. In the end buying a controler becase it has auto map is lame any way. I bought it because i like the lay out and feel ofthe knobs. What i found really redundend on the Remote are the drum pads though. first off they feel like shit and are not sensitive at all. But its a great machine for live purposes!!

still, is there some sort of freeware app that is basically nothing more than a nice gui hovering over your daw -
mimicking the (real) knobs of your controller and what they do
