I decided to buckle down and actually configure my X-Station to do what I bought it for. I've gone for so long using a mouse and keyboard that I felt it's time I did this. So I started to configure the midi map using the factory template provided by Novation to my liking, but found that I might want to move the midi map settings in my factory template to an already existing song. Of course, the already existing song doesn't have any mapped knobs, sliders, or what-have-you at all. So how would I move the midi map from this template to this already existing song? I'm personally perplexed myself. Thanks in advance.

i think you do it the other way around. in more recent versions of live (maybe sine live 5) you can browse one .als (live set) while another one is open.

so you would make a new "live set" song thingy from your template. now in the file browser browse to your existing song and drag whole tracks worth of clips over into the one with the midi mapping.

then after its all brought over into the one with the mapping setup save it as a newer version of your existing song name.

this doesn't seem to work, unfortunately, if I'm doing it as you say. Even when copying or moving an instrument from one track to another track within the same set, I lose the midi map for the instrument and have to remap the midi. Hopefully this is an error on my part and you were talking about something completely different.
