is there a way to start recording a track using keyboard shortcuts.
stop the track and reloop it?

i can do it for specific clip but don't see a way to do it with fresh clips?

do i need to use scripting?

I personally use sooperlooper on top of ableton, it works better for me.

i can't use superlooper it just doesn't work for me.
i found this which ill have a go at
Video&feature=related

you mean: link

That seems to work...I guess you could make it more sophisticated (map another scene) to record more than 1 section.

However, no undo or rerecord a scene without interacting with the laptop

there was a really great tutorial in the special live7 version of computer music on this. i think it might have originally been shown in a tutorial for live6 in a regular issue, you might want to track that down as it would be a little difficult for me to transcribe here. i might try scanning for you though if you really want it!

i lent that issue to my friend, so sadly i can't scan it for you, sorry

thanks er i am gonna try that. and play with sooperlooper more

i've gone through alot to arrive at just using live. which seems weird.
i used to use grm freeze which didn't even sync or anything but was
really simple.

i want something where i can see the waveform and move end points... live fits the bill
but its a bit cumbersome for something so simple.

cheers peeps

this is exactly what I do.

I'm a guitarist. I plug into a ZVEX lofi looper and a Line6 DL4 into a DI box that plugs into my audio interface. In live I run a main guitar channel that hosts my delays, reverb, filter, sooperlooper instance and amp sim. This is on track 1. Track 1 monitors input 1 and outputs to the Master channel. Tracks 2,3 and 4 are my guitar loop tracks. They all also monitor input 1, the have Monitor set to OFF and they are all record armed. They are all set to output to track 1.

So, these three tracks will record un-effected signal, will no play live audio through and they output to my guitar effects chain on track 1.

I have a FCB1010 pedal board and I also use a hacked up usb keyboard as a second fot controller. On the FC1010 I have an UP and a DOWN pedal that lets me scroll through the clip list and I have a dedicated GO and STOP button for each of my tracks.

I play with another live user who does the beats and sequenced synths. I slave Live's clock over the network to his. I have the quant set to 1 bar. I use the three clip tracks to record long phrases so that I can sit parts into the mix in time and ad hoc. I use the sooperlooper for beat sync'd overdubbing loops since you can't overdub in live (not exactly true, but things get too complex there) and I use my other loopers for async loops.

On top of that I have three additional tracks set to resample the Master, all set the same way as my three guitar tracks, but with their outs set to Master. This means that at any time I can record beat-sync'd loops of any length of my Master out and then mix them in -- this lets me record 32 bars or so of my whole construction, crossfade from the live audio to the loop which leaves me free to clear all my loopers and tracks without a big cut.

I'm not good at explaining it all, but that's what I do! It works pretty well for me. My music can be found at link

my comment from this thread: link

i got a wireless keyboard as a footcontroller so will try that out.

thanks for the detailed view of your setup.
will let you know how i get on.
