I just got 1 of these little pure analogue beat boxes today. Is anyone else here an owner?

I noticed that the MIDI sync is slightly out of time (tried different Master units and no luck).
For me, it is a hard one to figure.
It runs along with other machines without drifting but sounds a fraction of a beat quicker (when I slowed the tempo down to inspect further, the Kick/Snr, etc on the MFB is heard 'just' before the perc hits placed on the same steps on my Korg er-1/Jomox x-base/TR machines).
None are running in shuffle or swing modes so there is definately something wrong with the 502.

Apart from creating a mild shuffle effect (which sadly comes out more mudded beats than fancily rythmic) it seems that the only way to get the best out of it is to send Midi note on info (shame as its internal sequencer does fun things between the fill and regular pattern).
It is a Version 1.0 unit (do not recall hearing of a later released version though, so maybe this is irrelevant).

Any other folks here with that unit having bother?

I also read about Pacou having bother with the Midi sync on his MFB-503 at one point...so can any 503 users out there also confirm whether their Midi sync is perfect or not, as I was thinking of sending the unit back to swap it for a 503 but dont want to if it turns out that the 503's all have 'duff sync' as well?

i've heard of this problem with mfb stuff numerous times on the AH list, not sure which models.

I was just syncing my 502 w/ a roland tr, It sounded good to me, at one point while playing with the tempo knob it seemed grimey but all in all it works for me.

It's not terribly flexible, but I am pleasantly surprised by its integration for the price (and size).

One difficulty I'm having with both (I'm new) is recalling patterns in order. I'm not one to ask if the 502 syncs well when changing patterns on both because I haven't any expectations yet.

to morgberg- hi. as I said before, its notes are heard slightly before the other machines it is syncronised with . my 502 does not suffer time drifts when changing its internal patterns, or between pattern+fills either when running on its own or slaved to Midi Clock but however, as I said before, its notes are heard slightly before the other machines it is syncronised with.
If anyone has a fix or knows if MFB has good customer relations/fix faulty units for free (them being a wee home brew company) then please do let me know. I am still waiting to hear back from MFB.

MFB was very helpful when i had probs with my synth II, best 'customer relation' experience i ever had tbh.
But of course i dont know if this can be fixed...
if its a constant 'pre-delay' and no jitter, i guess you could just use a cheap delay pedal to correct it:S

molasar I've noticed "notes heard slightly before the other machines" as well with my 502 synced, It's only about 10% of the time when stopping and starting, I would want to pre-monitor it if I was playing live.

I hope you can get it fixed.
