So my trusty h320 Iriver died

I want to replace it with something that has similar features, particularly 16/44.1 wav file recording.

Any suggestions?

dunno about the recording stats, but I've been super pleased with my sansa. If i were to get a new player though, I'd get one of them that can record with an external mic straight to sd... the sansa only has an internal mic.

I have the IAudio U2... (Cowon) (1Gig)

I don't think it does 44k... 32k max.... mic and line in.

I'm quite happy with it tho... after 2-3 years, it keeps going.

i love my old i-river...um, how did it die? can you just get a new hard-drive for it?

I'm gonna pay close attention to this thread.

my iriver h140 is still kicking, and I can't go without 16/44 recording either.

Nah, it's well dead.

I might just buy another one of ebay if i can't find a decent replacement.

Don't know if it helps but i find amazon and ebuyer really good sites for finding things as there are usually a lot of reviews and they have a wide range of electrical stuff. Prices are pretty good too, even if i don't buy from them i can get a good idea about something and i usually find what i'm looking for. They're a good point of reference and beats searching all over teh interweb.

If the drive inside it still works you can salvage it. Should still work with a compact flash reader.

Thanks for the suggestions, will check em out.

Luckily the drive still works, so i didn't lose my music or recordings. It still functions as a usb hard drive, nothing else works. I've replaced the battery 3 times and the hard drive once, so its had a decent life and i don't mind getting a new mp3 player. I might look at a dedicated recorder, i'll see what's out there.

did you try replacing the firmware? i use rockbox: link

rockbox rox.
