....its dark in here...

I have completed that noise box project I was working on before. But now I want to modify it even more. The 2 555 timer chips both have that CV pin on them, what is a way to utilizes this pin? Could I send CV information to it, how would I do that? Could I make a CV keyboard type thing to send triggered notes by CV to it? Could it be possible to send an audio signal to this CV pin to modulate it somehow?

I have a lot of CV questions, lol. I know a bit about control voltage, but I'm now wondering how I could use it for this 555 timer project.

dunno much about the cv pin, but try running diff voltages to it...maybe 1-5v and see what happens
First, note that the Cv pin is essentialy inverted. the closer the voltage is to ground the higher the frequency.

A cv keyboard would be fairly easy. have a supply voltage sent a bunch of resistors in series, the switches switch in where in the chain of resistors the voltage is sent. let me find a schematic.. link .. ok in that schematic where it says keyboard is what you want to try. it would be simple enough to make an octave, but you would need 12 resistors and pushbuttons. i would prefer trimpots and resistors, makes it more flexible so you could tune a scale and maybe have a set of transpose buttons as well. play around with the resistor values, they should all be the same value in that chain.

also using the output of one of the 555's works, have one 555 with a larger cap for its frequency and you can use it as an lfo. add a passive lowpass filter to the output and you get differnt lfo waveshapes. link heres a passive lowpass. you coudl also run audio to it, but itd need to be amp'd a little bit. run it through a 386 amp, they are simple to make, super simple.

there is a whole bunch of stuff you can do to control it.
LDR's for a lame photo theremin.
joystick control, one axis per oscillator?

edit:
theres also a 4017 sequencer, really easy to make as well. google the baby10 sequencer. its the 'classic' 4017 sequencer.
great overview and examples psyingo, i think this will be good for my current carnation of contraption
Yeah, thank you for all that. Ill have to give some of those a try ^_^
if you have any questions; im always usually in the irc and am down with sharing knowledge. link
