Hello all,
I've recently got a tremolo kit and wondered about doing a specific mod to it.

I like quite a clicky/crunchy tremolo sometimes so wondered if i could put a high-pass on the LFO to give this? I'm assuming it's a resistor and a capacitor i need to put in somewhere, but not sure where. Also, whether i could put another pot in to control it....

Also, wondering about having it switchable between two different speeds. If i have afoot switch to go between two different variable resistors, controlling depth, will it make it switch speeds wheni change?

the tremolo in question is this one: link

thanks gang.

you could try putting an RC filter between R13 (depth pot) and Q3 for your highpass. not sure if that's the right place, or, if it is, what it would sound like. you'd probably want to boost the gain on the LFO if you're going to be putting it through a RC filter, which, being passive, will suck some of the volume from it. Using a pot for the R in the R-C will let you sweep through the range, which ought to be between 0.1 Hz and, say, 100 Hz. an hp filter at 100 Hz may completely wipe out the LFO.

I recommend trying this out in bidule or something before giong through with wiring it up. i mean, make an triangle lfo or something and put it through an hp filter and use that to trem something and see how it sounds. doing a digital mock-up should give you a rough idea of whether this plan will work.
Aha, cheers mate.
I had a tremolo that had a knob for square-triangle LFO blend, which i assumed was a Low pass.

do you think this one just does triangles? HP on a square wave would give some decent peaks i think, but maybe not on a tri...

think the speed change foot switch should work - duplicate R14 with a switch to choose, set the knobs at different speeds as desired... maybe its click though? hmmm...
the absence of a waveform switch probably means triangle or its like. typically square triangle blend is just that, a crossfade between two oscillators (usually the square is made from the triangle or vice versa).

agreed, a high-passed square wave would be much more interesting than a high-passed triangle. you might look at the tremulous lune, which is more complicated but not by that much: link (here hosted at tonepad - it's the 4ms dealy). i don't see some of the more juicy mods on this layout, such as FM on the LFO...
nice one, but too late: got the kit already for the one above!
going to make it pretty simple but with a switch for two different speed knobs.
Cheers!
gggg
in theory, one can make a square wave from the built in LFO using a comparator, but the practicum is outside my area of expertise.
"clicky/crunchy"?

square wave LFO as opposed to sin or tri.
sharp on/off wchich sounds like a click at lower LFO freqs and kind of crunchy/FMish at higher ones...
