I've looked around for it, but the only progs I can find are the ones that work in mac classic environment. I'm guessing from hearing this effect used in a lot of tracks I've heard, that they're using some kind of software. Like, making the voice sing and stuff.

Appreciate any kind of help.

Cheers,

Do you want to control your mac with your voice (enable Speakable Items in system preferences/speech) or do you want to create some speach from text? (run Applications/Utilities/Terminal and type say hello world)
if you want to get it to sing, you might first do the speaking part with the 'say' command, and record it into ableton. You can then add warp markers and chop it up so its rhythmically correct, and pitch the samples up and down for melody.
dach do you know how to change the voice that speaks with the 'say' command?
I've used a little utility simply called Say. I'm not sure if the presets can be tinkered with (except for the on-screen controls)...
In the Terminal, type "man say" ('man' opens the manual page for a command. The manual page is opened with the application 'less', which you can learn how to use here: link or by typing "man less"). This will show you how to add flags to the command to change the voice. For instance: "say --voice=Kathy hello cartesia". You can save the output to a file with the "-o [filename.aiff]" flag.

I believe I bought a license for "Vocal Writer" for OS9 almost ten years ago. You can get it here: link – looks like it works with OSX PPC-only now. This gives you piano-role style composing for computer voice like in this track: link (Catstep/My Kitten Kitten/Catnap Vatstep DSP by Hrvatski)
thanks nagrom.. I was trying to type like say ? or say /? or say help (yeah .. good one. .haha.. didnt take me TOO long to realise what that would do.) or whatever... i grew up on windows lol

*edit*

5 seconds later....

//TERMINAL//

Macintosh:~ Admin$: say man <enter>

>_<
