looks cool, what recording device do you use with it?
a zoom h-2 but you will also need to get the little amplifier for best results if that is the recorder you want to use.

okm II here too (the 'classic' one). get the little preamp with it (A3) unless you have good preamps on your recorder (i dont use the A3 anymore since i have a sony D50, but with the edirol r09 it was very good to have - allowed lower noise recordings than without it...)
yep, still even with the little amp the results tend to be hissier than recording with the internal h2 mics, however the recordings are really impressive and realistic - it is really worth it.

WOW...that Sony D50 looks really nice, a bit over my budget right now, but one day...
@ckid, when you say "even with the little amp the results tend to be hissier than recording with the internal h2 mics" This is a bad thing right ? Have any of you tried a technique called "transaural" where you cancel the bleed between the two speakers and enhancing the binaural effect link thanx if you like the D50 but its over your budget have a look at the sony pcm M10 ... from what ive heard, its preamps are about as good as the ones on the d50..
thats what i'd get nowadays, but it wasnt around back then.... Unknownforce@ : Those are great tracks, I listen to them with some old AKG K-66 and its like being in the middle of it all, Ill go for the Soundman OKM II for sure.
slp@ : Yes the M10 is a better choice for me right now, and If the preamp is almost as good as the D50 maybe I don't need the A3 preamp, better investigate a bit, there must be someway to compare the preamps in the D50 vs M10, and M10 vs the A3 thanx when i compared recordings made on the D50 / OKMII with and without the A3 it was quite obviously better without the A3...less noise, clearer highs, etc..
i never tried the M10, but you can maybe find some comparison recordings somewhere i guess.... as for the A3, keep in mind, its not only a preamp, but also a power-supply for the OKMs.. not really an issue with the D50, and im 99.9% sure also not with the M10, since those can supply the right 'plugin'-power themselfes, but, may be an issue with another recorder which can't.... Gerat, Ill go for the M10 and OKMII. The last couple of days Iv been walking around town noticing sound in a way I never did before, yesterday after a trip to Christiania I was standing waiting for my train and all the sound melted together, it was like My Bloody Valentine was preforming all my favourite songs, that I never heard before, somewhere in the distance, I am going back there as the first thing when I get my gear..
How do you feel your binaural recordings sounds on speakers compared to headphones ? What works best, large sounds or close ups ? I am curious about this transaural technique, and if Ill be able to pull it of in Logic when I get my gear Signup to comment
