audio interface/soundacrd (recommend)

I'm so behind on what's happening these days...but I'm looking to do a complete overhaul of my recording system...i make software based music, and occasionally work with MIDI, mostly a controller and sometimes a synth. What is a reasonably priced, great quality audio interface/sound-card?

I really like my E-MU Tracker Pre.
The converters are great, the signal path is short and clean, the headphone output sounds good, and the preamps can easily be bypassed. It's USB bus powered and capable of 24/192 recording and playback. There's no MIDI, though, and no hardware control of the master output level, so it's best to have it output into a mixer. It's very reasonably priced. (less than $150 new) The E-MU interfaces seem to be for people that just want the best converters for the money and not much else. The 0202 USB is cheap as dirt, and the 0404 USB is much more full featured. Though, the 0404 isn't bus powered. (if it really matters) Signup to comment
