--> Well, I posted a blog a little bit ago about my boring personal website. I got some advice, some offers to design a new site for me, and some examples to look at.

Thanks to all of you, I've re-designed my site. There is now a stated doctype, no spaces in filenames, a 'stream' function, and some shiny graphics. Hopefully I'll see an upswing in traffic.

There are one or two features that may be introduced at a later date such as a blog and a video section.

Anyway, thanks again to all who took the time to stop and look for a minute and give me some feedback.

New site is here: link

sight and about buttons link to news section man! i read that you are adding them later, but it may be confusing to the casual visitor. strip them out until you have those sections ready, i think it's better for the look of your site, otherwise it feels "broken"

Looks much much better, imho. You did a great job on this version.

errr.. beware, the sight and about button appear in the menu on any other page that is not the home page

there are still some "warnings" on the new site
if you use mozilla/firefox i suggest you install this

uf speeks teh truth.

8 warnings

i learned something new: "The P element represents a paragraph. It cannot contain block-level elements (including P itself)."

also: i like the design! lol at the web2.0 wet floor ;)

i think the depth that the building's reflection suggests doesn't fit in the design.
sorry i'll try to be constructive too:
how about a cutaway to the basement, and hidden underground staircase going down the page instead?

lol...i love that i got all deep and metaphorical about the name "buildingonfire" and it's totally a literal BUILDING on FIRE.

mixedtape said: "There is nothing telling me that this is a site about music when I go there. What does the name "building on fire" represent to you? It doesn't have to be literal fire, in fact, to me it sounds like creative inspiration. The fire of being inspired and building on top of that. Sounds awesome!"

i like this design mucho better btw. nice work.

mk_finger, makes me feel warm. maybe its the heAT from the burnig building.

me too. better.
also, unkown force is SUCH a purist.
if it shows, it goes. validators are the d3evil!
kidding, sortof....lol

also, thanks unkownforce - that's a cool firefox extension!

i personally think the web developer plugin is the ultimate firefox plugin. I don't trust that html validator plugin completely yet.

Thanks all. I'm continuing to revise it as I learn more about proper web design. Thanks especially mixedtape, uf and adjective.
