--> I have a small collection of shitty mics that I often use. They have their own charm and stuff for sure, and they're fun to abuse. However I've been yearning(?) to get a pair of quality mics for those instances where I really do need good sound! I decided on a matched pair of rode nt5's along with small mic booms/stands. It's the first time I use phantom powered equipement that's my own too so it feels weird and neat havign the XLR cables and such around, in a lame "omg i'm all grown up now" way. I'll still use my old mics of course, but these are amazing!

They sound really good for the price. They're bright but not sparkly (which is what I want) and have a relitavelly flat freq response (with rolloff at 15k I think). Will be using them for my yet-to-be-purchased new tube guitar amp (peavey classic 30) and existing shitty amp, vox, un-amped guitar noises and home-made percusion. I intend on getting some portable phantom eventually, like this thing and record with my iriver h140 or h120! Shows or just field recording.

ya definently a nice set for the cash. for about the same you could get a pair of nt1 large diaphram. then you would have a pretty complete recording setup.

Beats my current mic setup is use on the free drumset I got . RCA converted to 1/8" -> Sony MiniDisc -> MiniDiscs'Monitor -> Portable Stereo Sony Condenser mic (nice one I must say though). Limited by the recording space of a one gig minidisc. Temporary fix hopefully
