your mam dont count :P

I come here mostly for the information. It doesn't really matter if it's a normal thread or a blog. Basically the site becomes a jump off point for other areas of interest. But i'm pretty miffed that most of the info eventually will not be easily searchable. Searching via tags is pretty useless. And using google doesn't work all the time.

mwa ha ha.. to meet women.

i guess my response is basically the same as datathinner's .. except that his name would be in place of mine.

ironically.. i get on here instead of make music sometimes.. a habit i need to break. but lately this damn SNES emulator has really been raping my music production really bad. I'M SO LAAAAZZZZZYYYYY!!

i need some aderol.
I come here to get a hard on ,.. and then use that to masticate with.

sometimes it's out of habit yes, but then i usually stumble onto something worthwhile & interesting
over the years I've discovered pretty amazing music through this site, and the friendliness and helpfullness here is really great

I'm really interested in what a lot of you people are up to, and enjoy your musical output and evolution a great deal.
Still wish I had more interesting things to say most of the time I'm just reading (and often lol'ing).

i love the way a serious discussion on here decends into the usual em411iness style ;)

i miss my empage.. once i paid for it i never really looked back.. oh well

i dont mind blogs, although they do seem to be featured rarther promenantely on the site.. something that i wish the forums were..

i come here out of habit, to see old friends and have a chat about shit.. i do kinda long for the days when it was my bible but "thats just the way it is, somethings change some stay the same!"

;)

Certainly habit. I know what to expect from the regulars here... it's like a really cool bar that way. Sure, we talk about new gear, the new group we're in or the shows we're playing, but we also just kick back with a brew and talk about life. I love what bsr said about how we're not cold rigid technophiles who read like textbooks... we're real people who get emotional over world events and break up with lovers.

Here our common ground is the music. I could be good friends with most of the people here if I knew them personally, so it's a valuable site to me that way. The encouragement over the years has paid off and now I feel competent when I play my music live. People ask me about my technique and I have to thank em411 for a lot of the techniques I pass on to others.

So, mostly habit. I've seen other great-looking sites out there, but I'm put off by the idea of learning a whole new group of people. I feel like it'll take many more years to get to know all the amazing people here. I have so many releases to hear still and mixtapes to make... I could probably make mixtapes of em411 music and never have to look elsewhere for music again.

the Mixit is sorely missed. some of my proudest moments as a emusician were mixit releases.

I wish there were less haters, but what are you gonna do. It takes all kinds (i keep telling myself).

I wish there were less places to look for new info. The HUGE blogs on the front page take up all my time and I miss the forum posts a lot. It should be easy to browse the most recent info from every aspect of the site. The last version was pretty close to it... probably just needed a longer list of forum posts because there was a lot going on in the forums those days.

I miss the avatars! Avatars are so much fun.

lots of responses - interesting!

i come here for the people to follow what you are up to....

i love the fact this place can be a real resource with people saving you from hours of lost time trying to figure out something that is in front of your face - but you just did'nt know - but needed to know and was ready to know!

its a good place for promotion and the blogs seem to allow that - but i preferred empages - they seemed more like a personal space/home....

the music here has alway been amazing - i've been enthralled, amazed, inspired and humbled many times by what i have heard.... i just wish the music was linked more structurally to the process and tools of making it - as well as the subjective artist experience... so you could hear and read and learn and get inside the artists head a bit more.... + artist name and number of comments is needed on the front page - so you can see if a new response has been posted and check it out....

i also think a rrandom track from the front page should load and stay playing at all times unless you choose to close it or you go into one of the other song pages.....

em versus noise... i'm less interested than many in using this as a place to vent about political issues - the issues that get vented are very us/uk centic and there is awhole world of other issues that are not covered due to the location of many emer's who post here..... i also tend to get into my em in order to escape from some of the negative world realities i face or am aware of in other places.... of course there are times when em and politics meet and that would fit as a discussion... etc.... But its all about subjective interest i guess...

i wish there was stronger link to other forms of digital art on here.... as i love the coming together of visual and audio art....

the new em seems more tansient - with topics flowing past like a stream - but no permanence and i think it has lost an opportunity to be a useable knowledge database.....

i also can't believe it does not have a freesound type sample library....

yes i miss avatars too - they made it more personal.....

the people and what they can do is the main thing though that is SO positive - audiobulb and stfu-music both would not be hear with em411....

reallly tho.. no matter what you think.. this place is infinitely less douchey than any other electronic music (or hell.. ALL music) based forums/communities I've been to.

less bravado
