when i started making em, or rather my musical output and my life path resulted in me making em i really wanted someone other than my closest friends to hear it to get unbiased feedback and input. i posted a track and got totally slated cos i didnt know how to work the site and post tracks etc and i put loads of links to my myspace on like four, five different blogs on here... i totally got shot down and jdg was all hating on me and everything. he deleted my posts, i then realised all about internet etiquette and this site is daunting to new users. however, i have since posted and recieved positive feedback from regular listeners and i have had my confidence boosted and my fear of equiptment has turned into respect and so i guess, being a bit mellowdramatic maybe, my em making has been challeneged here, where as it is simply accepted as 'cool' or with a nod of 'yeah nice one dude' here in the 'real' world.

i have now read this site for a few years, occasionally actually participating (now that i'm out of school and "between jobs" i can type here more) but mostly reading and really what i appreciate is the generally more adventurous approach to music people take and the lack of anti-intellectual attitudes that most electronic-music people seem to have. certainly music isn't all about thinking and talking (or dancing about architecture) but it's certainly not ALL about dancing or fun and games.
i also respect the technical knowledge of many site members. jdg, bleen, flies, and p have definitely been very interesting contributors (among others) that i have learned from. however, there is a tendency to take people (newbies) to school for the most innocuous behavior that is not at all constructive.
i'm really into the political discussion because we are theoretically artists and therefore should be informed (...outraged?) about the goings on in the world...right?

sure but i'm more interested (on this site) how you / why you turn political issues into your audio output - what did you do and why.... how has it affected your thinking about em - i guess its like an em anchor
i wish people blogged more about albums they have heard too - i should do that - but time is so short - but i should

its not a criticism - i'm not in any place or position to make a criticism of other people here - its just an opinion from me about what i come here for.... em is the common theme here and politics will be more or less relevant to people depending upon which country you hail from and how connected to the political scene/agenda you are.... i just always wonder what the people from turkey, switzlerland and austrailia think when everyone's banging on about Bush and Blair - i guess some of them will just browse over it.... i guess i just feel very intruded by Bush & Blair elsewhere - i listen to the news everyday and read a paper and when i come here and see it all again i think - fuck - they're agenda is getting everywhere.... and i need a balance of other things to think about....
so no criticism - its just not what i'm into when i'm here... which is Electronic Music Production, MP3's, Live Shows, Blogs and Community

I don't really know how to express myself well. i don't know if i really mean it as a criticism. It's just something i've observed. I was born in the UK but i don't live there anymore, so maybe i have some deeper seated snobbery about this issue, which is a bit tasteless. I'm sorry, I honestly didn't mean to offend anyone.

Thing is we (europeans) are so exposed to bush & blair that it becomes the 'standard' for foreign politics, so whenever there's some news, in some way or another it features those devillish creatures. That's not entirely true, but US/UK (foreign) politics do make up for most of the news.
Take for instance last weeks election, the coverage on such an event is just overwhelming - even here in Belgium too.
It just seems to be more of a general focus, insted of the more 'local European' news.
