For my entire career as an IDM/Noise enthusiast on the internets, I've partaken, often, in the genocidal, universal, 0 tolerance, hatred towards trance.
Maybe I'm exaggerating.
But it seems like trance is by far the most hated genre in "intelligent" electronic music circles.
6 months ago I started throwing small raves. Since then, I've begun to love trance, more and more. I'm now at a point where I listen to trance as much as I listen to any other type of music.
I don't know whether I would have liked it all along if I'd heard what I listen to now, or if I just needed an immersive experience for me to give the stuff a chance, but... I just fucking love it.
And what's worse is that I like a lot of typically bad trance. Like, vocal melodic trance. Anthem trance. UPLIFTING trance. But, I have some taste. I still avoid Tiesto and Van Buren like the plague...
It's just... I fell weird falling in love with something I've actively despised for so long. Is anybody with me on this?
Does anybody else secretly indulge in the sinful pleasure of trance?

i love trance not because of it's symbolage or anything but because of the sound itself. for example, trance typically (ideally) is supposed to be something you can kinda float your consciousness away with, melodic, yet repetive.... the quality of the style is what i really dig.
personally, i fucking hate it when stupid bitches (excuse me) be singing on that shit and RUIN IT ALLLLLL!!!!

that's actually what I like most about your music. except it's a little more complex.

i guess it's more complex.. it's definitely more dense. that's what i like is the thickness.. trance just sounds thin an dtransparent which is great if you like crappy fractals and fuckin deviant art.
and even then.. it's all about the timbre. you should hear the remix i did of erik schoster's friend liz dannemiller who does like classical bluesy piano type stuff. it sounds like ligeti meets coil.

i like both. there's something beautiful about pulse-width modulated squarewave leads.

LOL I was all about Uplifting trance in like... 7th grade. hahaha.
I understand the appeal, and occationally I still indulge in some trance. I just find it to be really cheesey a lot of the time, and my interests have just shifted dramaticly away from it. But I certainly remember it being very emotional for me, very uplifting, very thick and deep sounding. Then again, I was 13.
