--> Is it me, or does it seem like an unprecedented number of em411 members are achieving musical "success"?

*A number of people have released music videos lately.
*STFU has occured a number of times with plans for more in the future.
*We have a mastering engineer among us.
*Umami, Mormo, Liger, Ochre, Room, Autistici, Ignatius, jdg, Implex Grace, hecanjog, n9, and a whole bunch more I'm forgetting have released serious albums with varying (high) levels of success.
*We've been featured on compilations (Autistici, hecanjog, Implex Grace... and many many many I've forgotten)
*A number of us have created successful software and hardware tools.
*Some of us have started labels... (Room, hecanjog)
*...and netlabels (Hippocamp...)
*Many of our websites are hosted and/or designed by em411 members

...lots of stuff!

Despite the sentiment that em411 aint what it used to be (something I believe to a degree...) I'm thoroughly impressed, and after writing this out, honored, humbled, and proud.
And inspired.

em411 sure is self conscious these days..

Right on. My measurement of success is relative.

What I mean is that people are achieving relative success, whatever the reference point may be for themselves.

And for the record, I'd be stoked if I sold 150 copies of a record. I'd be stoked if I made a record.

yeah. there are a few people that used to hang out here that i miss and the whole 'feel' of the place has shifted quite dramatically since v5 came along.

posting my tracks here made me feel like a proper musician and has helped somewhat to curb my massive inferiority complex. em411 made me not embarrassed about the music that i produce.

yeah, same here. before i started posting tracks here i assumed that my songs would be shot down. after jonbro convinced me to post a track and people said they liked it i starting having a bit more confidence.

lol i'm not a success i'm a freakin LOSER!

seriously though, thank you for the mentions. arigato gozaimasu !

seriously, i'll consider myself successful when people start asking me to play more shows without me having to go out and look for them.

I like to use this website to "test waters" when I am trying new stuff.

i would really like to share my appreciation of that golden em411 computer you used for this blog
it made me feel nice all over

ditto.
I owe a lot to this site and all of you. It's done wonders for my creative cycle.
also...
early next year the CD by unrecognizable now (my friend matt and I) should be released on Pehr.
i will keep everyone updated.

Ya, when alls said and done I don't think anyone can disagree that em411 is/was a great site.

I'd agree with frnortnr.

this place is ace. any question you have about anything musical from some obscure theory to something technical will get some really good replies that are really useful - you don't find that anywhere else.

re: is/was a great site - any perceived decline is matched only by the number of posts people have discussing it - i think it's self perpetuating, people should post good content instead.

let's make a contest: who has got the most myspace friends!!

ha!!

wait. no. that's stupid.

it's astroid.

I used to hang out here a lot, then I more or less stopped visiting the site for a while, so coming back here I've noticed this too. I'm not surprised though considering all the talent that seems to flock around the site. And I'm very happy for each little bit of success that comes to hard working musicians.

I agree with frnortnr as well... the folks here at good old em411 have been totally instrumental in my (gag) "success"... I would say that this community stoked the flames within me. Totally. In the most positive of ways, because it isn't even a heavily competitive site. At least for me it never was. It was always about sharing and learning.
