--> i'm sitting around at work watching videos of live performances by artists that i'll probably never get a chance to see. so many of my favorite artists just don't tour any more or rarely, if ever, tour the states.
i've also noticed a lot of performances that were extremely ...un-live for lack of a better term. ie: bobbing their head to a dat or something.

which got me thinking that it's been some time since i saw a really good live performance of electronic music. jamie lidell + four tet was a good one.

saw jamie lidell last night, very captivaing. great showmanship. i also 2nd jel, that was impressive too. (performance wise)

calexico, mouse on mars, and this band callled 'celebration' are the best shows i've ever seen

and trans am was pretty fucking awesome too

saw'd justice. best show i've seen in a while.

haven't seen much this year. busy busy boi.

they rock. quite hard.

still def.

the best live performance i ever saw was squarepusher at glastonbury '99
there was another dude with him (his brother ceephax i guess)
they had fuckloads of machines and they just switched, turned, tweaked, pressed, pushed everything they possibly could as fast as they could for the whole set
totally mental
like mutant acid jungle
really incredible

i really enjoyed squarepusher as well. saw him live when he was doing his ultravisitor thing.

autechre @ aberdeen pelican club. tri-repetae tour, 1995.

incredible, heavy set. massive distorted beats with rolls that would slice your head clean off. the club was shoulder-to-shoulder packed and sweat dripping from the roof. proper. saw them on the last couple tours, they were boring in comparison to that '95 gig.

a few that spring to mind...

Fennesz - Tramway, Glasgow, 24th May 2001
Philip Jeck - Norberg Festival, Sweden, July 2005
Millicent - Stfu Helsinki, Finland, 14th Oct 2006
Uncool Sam - Stfu Edinburgh, 7th October 2007

I saw Ae at The Square in Harlow about 95 during their "toilet tour" that was how KidQ described above. Dark room, heavy beats and loads of sweat. Nothing to see - just intense sound.

Chrome Hoof @ ATP last december were fairly wow. They had a really good vibe going down on stage althought they are more metal/funk than electronic.

Plaid in the old [smaller] Smallfish record shop on the day before Double Figure LP was released - it was incredibly intimate with about 40 - 50 people there.

Pan(a)sonic. Holy shit, they fucked me in my cranium.

That was like 8 years ago. I'm not sure I've even been to a show since.

Portishead at T in the Park '97
Millicent at stfu helsinki
Yoghurt Synth at stfu weimar
