I love disquiet.com. They turn me onto all sort of crazy wacky experimental music.

They recently linked to a 45 minute live piece with Ellen Fullman ( link ). Ellen Fullman's instrument is what she calls the Long String Instrument. Basically, it's a 70 foot loom of 100 strings strung between two stands with a resonator on the end. She plays it by rubbing the individual strings, which in turn excite the resonators. The combination of harmonics she gets determines the overall sound of the instrument

The sound is ungodly - kinda like a glass harmonica, but with more bite. I love these kinds of instruments - I have loved the sound of the tamboura, but this is like a tamboura on steroids.

Ellen Fullman's site is here: link

I've attached a pic of the instrument for those who are curious, and another pic of her with Kronos.
