John Cage:
"I was invited to a musician's house one evening and during the course of dinner I asked to be excused so as to use the restroom. In a stunning display of sagacity and beneficience, my hosts complied.
Upon entering said lavatory I saw a rusted old brass birdcage containing no birds, plants, or seeds, but instead a photocopied picture of an outhouse.
Naturally, I found this sight quite curious. I later asked him about it.
He said nonchalantly,
"Oh, that's my John Cage."
I didn't stop laughing for a very long time."

Roshi said: ""The Poet makes himself a seer by a long, immense and systematic derangement of all the senses."

- Rimbaud"

ive never understood that quote. are you really meant to derange all your senses?
How do you derange your sense of smell?

Imagine if your nose was "deranged". that would be weird.

Hmm...I've always heard it as "derangement of the senses"...as in you're screwing up your wiring, taking sensory input and twisting it into something else completely. Like impressionism. But cooler.

LOL...nose derangement. "I smell but I know it's just flowers."
