Man, I feel sick.
I was messing around in Finder and I dragged the little title bar icon of my music folder to the desktop, thinking it was just creating an alias. I deleted it, and habitually immediately emptied the trash. Now my entire iTunes library and live sets are gone.
My library I'm not too upset about, because I can get it all off of my ipod. The thing that sucks the most is losing the Live sets. The only real important one was Black Friday, since my macbook is fairly new and most of the other sets are on my desktop. All I have of Black Friday now is the mp3 I uploaded to my server.
Sadly, this isn't the first time I've accidently deleted large amounts of music projects away into cyber nothingness (although the first time in OS X). Has anyone else had experiences like this? What did you do to hold yourself together? Did crying help? Did you take out your frustration on a random pedesrtrian?
Last time I did this I looked forward to starting fresh, but I wanted to use some of this stuff on a release in the near future. Bleh. Whatever. Life goes on.

Ugh...man, I know the feeling. Ok, this was my latest loss of data...
I did a backup recently and reformatted my HD, but I used a powerpc application on an intel mac...,but it seemed to be working. So it's doing its thing and I get a lil' error about backing up a file. I select ignore and it continues on. Then I reformat thinking all is well, but alas I check it out and I've lost everything (pictures, my music projects, etc). I'm not so choked about the pictures because I didn't put a lot of time in taking them...but the music projects, ouch. So I try and recover it....thankfully Data Rescue saves me. But it's not over...I decide "Hey, I need to get some reliable backup software..." I get SuperDuper and set it so that it'll back up everything automatically. I walk off...I don't realize that I've just set it to delete my 'entire' backup drive (mostly my mp3s, like 80gb worth). When I come back everything is gone and replaced with my system HD....oh man...this fucking hurt...4-6 years worth of mp3s down the drain. Thankfully I had a small percentage burned, but still not nearly as much as I would have hoped.
Though...I hadn't been listening to my music collection for sometime...so I am a lot more grateful for the small amount of music I do have.
As you said before, "Life goes on."
