so in chat x|k and astroid and i were discusing things we have liked that were not so good. i know i've already admitted to liking aqua (let's face it, they ARE good), but this was more of a convo about historical embarassments. like bobby brown, or gowan, or sunscreem. not that i ever liked any of that stuff.
but i am listening to sunscreem now, and holy mother of god it is cheeeeeeeese.

The whole of Australia should have hung its head in shame the other month.
Our National TV Channel did one of those online polls to find Australia's Favourite album.
link
"Dark Side of the Moon" apparently. Hmmm
"Bat out of Hell" came in at 9 which is worthy of a cringe or two.
Anthony Callea - you wouldn't know him,(and be grateful) but he came second - second!!!! - on "Australian Idol" - was voted in ahead of Joni Mitchell's Blue, Ziggy Stardust, Highway 61, Kind of Blue, Who's next. Apparently there are more Australians who like Idol style prefab pop screeching than there are Australian who like, well, anything good.
And Hot August Night was number 16.
Just for a little bit of credibility Velvet Underground and Nico sneaked in a 100.
But the bit embarrassment was that in the top 10 of Australia's favourite artists there were no woman, no black music, and no Australian music.

I bought the extended editon of the 'Rivers of Babylon' by Boney M on vinyl when I was like 12 or so I think. With that ADHD dancer. I loved that too. The guy could dance and did his own style.

Wow, so many. But one that sticks out is the hit cassette single of MC Hammer's Addams Family. That song plus me in my purple baggy pants with green and black horizontal striped t-shirt were the perfect combo.
datathinner said: "the first tape i ever bought was Kriss Kross, the album with that "jump" song. i was 9."
omg, I think that was like my second ever CD. I had the BMG subscription and they had like 4 CDs total it seemed.

As a kid i used to like alot of embarassing music, like Dingo, Mariah Carey(atleast that's what my mom says), Twilight Zone by 2unlimited, prpably digged the first single of Rednex even. But the list is so long so im not gonna write it here in all it's glory. Although for defence i loved a lot of most awesome music also.
But seriously Aqua.......

When I was about 10 or 11, I got ahold of a Columbia House ad where all I had to do was attach a penny and get up to 8 tapes of my choosing. I was delighted (however, my parents were not pleased) when the package arrived, and I was able to get the most prized of the included 8-tracks:
Buckner and Garcia's "Pac Man Fever"
-- so I did a search just now, and found you can download the whole album in crappy quality... but it's there...

Oooh, pac man fever.
I also was a big fan of Mousercise and Disco Duck (or whatever it was called).
"Watch out, watch out, for goofy!" (chorus singing with disco poo-toms going crazy)
