--> so the macworld keynote has started about now I suppose. I'm kind of keeping an eye on the macnn feed here: link - i'm not really waiting for anything to be released per se, but macworld keynotes have become a bi-annual habit for me, so discuss whatever Steve graces us with..

hmm, it's kinda understandable in terms of quality control, i can see why they'd do that, it's a consumer device, not for enterprise so there's little real reason for them to open it up. maybe they'll still do skype but no doubt barter for some cheeky deal cos' they've got the muscle and then develop the app in-house to ensure it meets style and interface guidelines.

its a pity, cause i use a trio , and its not very comfortable. but i need ssh, and other client tools for my use.

meh, a phone and a crappy itv gadget that doesnt even have a dvd player or a tuner and can't do divx.
the phone looks cool, but just like the itv has no useful whatso ever in Australia.
just release leopard already!

judging by some of the comments here: link - it won't be possible to use it on any carrier by default as it requires some infrastructure changes, ie. even if you could get past any simlock you couldnt just drop a sim from another carrier with a dataplan and have all (if any, depends on how locked down it is) the features work. it's the same with blackberry, you put a normal sim in with a dataplan and you won't get anything but voice calls.
