--> I highly suggest that everybody see Children of Men.
It's one of the most emotionally potent movies I've ever seen and certainly the best depiction of guerrilla violence I've ever seen dramatized.
Absolutely brilliant.

on my to-see list as well.. in film school we used the opening sequence in Strange Days as example for a one-shot scene (although there are two or three seamless edits in that one). sounds like they went out of their way for the one in Children of Men (judging from ther imdb trivia page).

yghartsyrt - ah. i see bsr. so if it is that long. it must be a great scene.

size doesn't matter... but it IS a great scene, watch it before you doubt what other people say!

julianne moore is awful, i was so happy when she was taken care of
then the pregnant girl spoke and my relief quickly ended
the dialogue often felt like infomercial acting with zero subtlety to anything
sounds like they left winamp open when doing the soundtrack

it looked very nice and some of the sequences were exciting
the reverse driving / motorcycle sequence was super cool, but this isn't a die hard sequel so i'm disappointed that i came out of this movie only liking "the treats"

just eye candy
no movie here

*punches a baby*

i wasn't doubting other people, before i saw in myself.
i'm just a little fed up of superlatives that get invented everyday. of course this is great. and of course that scene is really well shot.
why can't so many people just: this was really amazing. why have to make up superlatives? just to make to point clearer?

end of rant

I'm going to see it this afternoon. Thanks for the recommendation!

i just watched it this afternoon, great film, really kept me on edge. i liked the long shots, yeah it's nothing new but i'd still rather see that than a cut every 3 miliseconds, like most action scenes seem to have these days.

lol at adjective.

the reason i say it isn't perfect is because while i loved it, ariel pointed out some problems with tone and pacing as we walked from the theater. and me being the synth geek i am, i just saw the dystopian pretty and heard the aphex (even leaned over to her and said "that's APHEX TWIN!"), and things got all fuzzy in the brain.

we concluded by saying that we hope there's a director's cut.

agreed totally tmns.
it was great to hear King Crimson - In the Court of The Crimson King in there too, fucking love that song!

i didnt really fancy this film when i saw the trailer for it a while back but its on my 'to watch' list now. went to the cinema yesterday to see 'the last king of scotland' which i highly recommend. forest whittaker was just astounding as idi amin.

I found it really odd that the Aphex Twin track in there isn't true to the original. They added a metal/goa-trance-esque synth arp to it (so that the faux-guitar picking would seem more appropriate).

Also, check out the latest news at FreeSound: link (make sure you listen to the sample, it's amazing)

Oh, man, that is a heck of a sample! The new wilhelm scream?

saw it.

Holy shit.

Ripped my heart out, that ending did. Really, there were tears streaming down my cheeks. What a great movie. Thanks!

hahahah, Astroid, when they played the Shostakovich 10th and Prokofiev violin concerto I leaned over to Hector and told him so!

Was the aphex twin the Zen?

oh, yeah, I really had NO problems with the film at all! Only the end credit music was a bit... meh.
