--> it seems highly acclaimed producer hiphop / rnb / pop producer timbaland has been doing a fitts for fight and stealing and profiting from chiptune artists work...

read the full story (and hear the stolen song in all its forms) here :

it seems he has played back the .sid file, muted the drum channel and sampled the c64 version wholesale, chucked his own drums over the top then taken the credit for writing it the thing is if he had sourced a similar-sized loop such from a vinyl lp you can bet the credit for sampling would be given and royalties paid. sad. i like some of tims work but this is pretty darn shady. he even sold the beat twice!

tsk. tsk. tsk.

Honestly, this sucks.

However, this guy not getting a lawyer on Timba's ass sounds like he wants to drag this infamy out to make a name for himself. Never doubt the power of indignant internet masses.

Sorry if this sounds cynical. But it kinda sounds like this guy smelled the gravy train.

it's just lame that he only gives credit when forced to by a threat of legal action (all the big label samples he uses are credited)

fuck man, you get ripped off by timba, you should jump right on the gravy train!

i definitely think he'd get more money by going for the royalties full force. he'd get notoriety probably plus all the money up front. better that then just the probable notoriety. also, i'm guessing he's not going for the royalties because legal action is the most draining thing imaginable/timbaland's thugs threatened to break his kneecaps.

roshi- true. but its easy to see that timbaland (not nearly as fun to say as furtado) set himself up for it.

c'mon.. anyone w/half a brain has to realize you just can't steal some shit off the internet and expect no one to notice. also, the guy who wrote the song SHOULD drag it out and take advantage of the gravy train just to make an example.

he pissed off the internets!

I guess I've just seen so many examples where internet mobs do stupid things that I just am kind of scared of them.

Timba deserves whatever's coming to him. That's for sure.

So, people will be outraged like we are, right?
No. I did this before showed all these pop fans the actually places there beloved top 40 crap was ripped from, they don't care 'at least she can dance' 'shes a great entertainer' 'the remix is better' I can liken it to sports. People like to be on the side of the winning team. These people are drinking cristal on there yachts, they are getting jiggy wit it, clearly they are the winners. Look at their shiny grills."

thanks for this perspective. i have to say that it's incredibly depressing to realize that people don't really respect art or artists.

I hope that from the all the press in our scene that Timberland will be shamed into dealing with this...
i hope something is going on in the background.

Ya Timbaland need his fn hand slapped here, imho the demo scene deserves more media attention in the USA anyway.

some people got pissed cause Chingy used a rif from Jaco's 'Portrait of Tracey".. but he's dead so i guess it's no big deal.

thanks drummergirl - its good to have perspective.
i'm saddened and all i can do is think about making a mashup and posting a whole album of timbaland "make fun of" music.
of course this is childish, ... na. i'll just maybe "think about it"....lol heheheh

Seems like the guy is pursuing legal action:

"It makes me laugh. The part I don't understand, the dude is trying to act like I went to his house and took it from his computer. I don't know him from a can of paint. I'm 15 years deep. That's how you attack a king? You attack moi? Come on, man. You got to come correct. You the laughing stock. People are like, 'You can't be serious.'"

So essentially Mr. Boots (Timbaland) is saying. "I'm famous, what right do you have to be upset over me stealing your tune?" Not sure why he's laughing, he's the one who stole the song and has no talent.

Sampling is about using something from one artist to create something of your own. Cutting up breakbeats, or taking a note and pitching it up and down, and Sean P-Diddley Combs are 2 different things entirely. Yah feeeeelzzz meh???

since when was timbaland the king of anything. everyone knows the neptunes are the real masters of the new school.

timbaland can write a tight beat but so can i. and he'd probably steal it.
