CBC radio is run by idiots

we have a national broadcasting radio station here that plays mostly classical music all day and has talk shows. it's all very soothing and adulty, until midnight hits and then a show called "Brave New Waves" comes on. This show has been running since 1984, and it showcases new music that would never normally get radio play. I learned about the Stone Roses through this show, The Wedding Present, Orbital, BR, Squarepusher, and I could go on and on and on.
Now, the brilliant old men behind the CBC have decided that they are going to move their "youth oriented" shows (BNW being one of them) over to satellite radio. GREAT MOVE! Make the kids pay! That will guarantee you'll continue to have tons of listeners over the years. Everyone I know already think the CBC is completely out of touch with anyone under the age of 50, and this strongly supports that opinion.
The absolute idiocy of this infuriates me to no end, I wrote them a big rant about this story.

i guess i shouldn't complain to vocally though. our fine government is probably looking for any excuse to cut the cbc's budget rather than expand it to give them the ability to produce more (& hopefully better) programming. but man, there really is some terrible programming right now that could easily be shoved aside to make room for better stuff.

BNW was by far the radio show that had largest impact on my life. By far.
I can't believe this.
Like a true canadian, I'm now going to go look for some petition to sign to voice a big massive f u to cbc.

yeah i rarely post feedabck on news articles, but i did on that one. so amazingly stupid.
even if they had to cut their budget (i'm sure patti's wages don't make a huge dent), i really don't see how much they will save by losing ANY listeners they had between midnight and 4am.
there is college radio here, but (at least in my city) there are only 2 (and 1 is pretty much impossible to get unless you are close to the actual university) and although they have some good shows, the majority is indie rock and you just dont get the national exposure the cbc would bring.

maybe they should just open a radio show "youth is wasted on the young" or "mozart for mutual funds" or "insurance company blues"
that should placate the "main demographics" until the next med run.

yeah, BNW was what made cbc2 listenable... can i take this time to decry the nepotism of the CBC? i mean, seriously, do we need only to hear from the same incestuous circle of canrock artists... at least they still have the news...
