--> I know we have been bantering alot about em411 this and that and ontopic discussions versus offtopic ones.

I would personally like to mention how significant I believe this community is.

I have never met a more colorful group of individuals and have never felt like I have found real friends on the internet alone. Until I found EM411. Between the raw humor and the very honest critiques that I run into, I feel that as an artist, this place is a thriving flexable environment where I know I can be expected to present and temper my own vision as an artist. This is the first time a group of producers and artists spread across the US and abroad has responded to any of my work and have made me feel to some extent that I am among peers who will apreciate as quickly as they will sit down and be honest about what is missing.

I do not think that I am a virtuosic person, but I know that I have a vision for my music that may or may not see the light of day, but here at em411, I will always have ears to listen and THAT is absolutly important to me.

And I can come home from work and hear new music that people I know are writing. If I was just "stuck in florida" with no way to breathe in new art from a thriving base of engaged and focused musicians, I think I would suffocate here. So. For Better or worse. Its em411 and we are all learning from it I hope.

what motivates someone to post some distortion and crackle for 17 minutes thats what i wanna know?

chances are if u can hardly stand to listen to it, knowone else will want too either.

forget the funny or pointless blogs, they are actually generally funny! When you show that stuff
attention, you give ignorant people more credit then they deserve, while good songs are
being missed on the front page!!!! but no, your too busy talking about Pawels last comment, its pathetic,
get over it!!! How about good music?

releases of 17 min of crackle are not a problem. utofbu has come on and been a helpful and engaging contributor, so he should feel free to post anything he wants. The impersonal element comes from the fact that anyone can release anything at any time, as many times as they want. So thats why theres releases that are by users you've never heard of before, posting advertisments for their "tracks" in three different places on the site.

The nostalgia, for some, likely comes from a time when releases were limited and empages added a certain personal element to a smaller, more tightly knit community. If we dont talk aboot what sandwiches we like, we lose a certain personal element that makes the relationships of the users more meaningful, and in the end, more beneficial musically and culturally.

well, the 17 minute thing I actually enjoyed doing and I thought it had a few elements that someone would want to hear... Sorry you thought it was pointless Greg, YOu spent the time to comment on the release and it was quite neutral. Reguardless, that "primer" is a big slab of meat for me to chop and I see it not as pointless but as step one towards a few new pieces.

Trust me, I do not post my stuff in order to feed trolls. But I could have used the whole piece and then the track would have become about 200 minutes so...

However, You are entitled to your opinion and wont argue that yes I was using PAWEL's Material. Is there anything else that bothers you about me? I would definitly like to know if I, myself am travelling down the road of troll-dom.

yeah. i miss em pages and avatars. i miss restrictions on releases (i used to actually comment, believe it or not). not to mention i miss em himself being around. i feel like we're the bad kids who got shipped off to military school. this site has seen many iterations, good and bad, but i feel this is the worst. not that it's a piece of crap or anything, just that it's the least friendly of all the versions, imo. i probably haven't contributed enough throughout the years to complain, but i wish em hadn't left it this way. this whole site feels like a weird sociology experiment sometimes.

web 2.0 (and all that jazz) is a weird sociology experiment!

on the streets site i mentioned above, two people got married (within days of meeting each other), wrote online diatribes about thier love for each other and then (after a short while) broke up, all very very publically on the site! most odd...

Ok so it was a coincidence, a rather notable one.
Dont pontificate about whats "sad" when comments can be misconstrued or confusing as a result of coincidence.

I was speaking rather generally too, about the release aspect of the thread. I responded particularly to the '17 min' comment b/c I thought (understandably so) that you were referring to utofbu's recent 17 minute long release.

nobody needs to chill out, we're all fine, just talkin.

i need to listen to more music here.

every so often i get bored with em411vibes, then come back to it. its like a drug.
im going through a phase where i cant be bothered listening to anything here.
but in a few weeks ill end up listening to every track that gets posted.

to give you an idea of what im listening to lately: Today I bought some old 78 records one was called "PotPourri of Yiddish Tango" and the other one features a guy singing in Gaelic playing the piano.

My brain cannot absorb anymore glitch, Vst ambient noodles, or beats'n'pads. Im not interested (at the moment)

But ill be back!

This site is still the best music community site bar none.

Fuck the trolls, they have feeble minds.

this place has, imho, been remarkably resilient. i remember when i came here and finally posted my I love em411 blog a couple years ago, and people said the same thing "it used to be great," etc. i dunno. still is great. it cycles. trolling comes, rejuvenates people, and then hurts people. then it becomes a love fest, and after we light cigarettes and talk about our synths.

so nows where someone whos been here since 02 says "stfu noob"

gregg i like yoru releases so far and you would be one of the last people I would get on about musical
substance because your music is good.

My 17 minutes of distorion and crackle comment wasnt directed towards anyone in perticular, it was just
a general statement about 411.

I hate this PC enveirment where i have to over explain myself, geez.

and dude, I have no idea how u attributed my comment to Greggs track.

actually by assuming i meant gregg u are the one dissing him, by thinking what I
said =greggs song.

I would have never thought that till u brought it up.
