I recently watched this documentary on the making of sgt. pepper:

It was enjoyable... george martin spends much of the movie changing the volume on the 4 mixer channels to let us hear what's on each of the 4 tracks. Yeah, 4 damn tracks, that's it. We are so spoiled (?) with our massively multitrack recorders these days.
It got me to thinking how this track limitation was likely hugely influential in how that album ended up sounding...
which led me to thinking about mixit's, which are meant to create limitations on our production...
and then I thought, hey, that should be a future limitation, only 4 tracks allowed. (or 2 tracks? or 1?)...
and then thinking about mixits, I realized that we always have this limitation of using that set of samples, why is this the one constant limitation?
How about having some mixits that are still restrictive in some way, but allow us to bring in our own sounds? i.e. make a track on one single instrument, or record everything on tape, or with all the sounds in reverse, or live without edits, etc. etc.
Thoughts?

Yeah, i thought that organ part was neat too. I've heard all those sounds before in the songs, but never thought about how they actually did them.
I kind of even thought that it all being done on a four track might have been an urban myth... but no, there's the proof.

mixit, quixit, techxit... i like the idea - feel free it organize it and let us now. i think apply techxit rules to quixits or mixits is fine enuff though, and anything further seem superfluous to me.... that's me though, and am SO used to using the mixit samples, i think every one of my songs save, mmmm, 5? are done using mixit/quixit samples LOOL oh well :\

yes, but i have to point out that having 4 tracks in those days wasnt looked at as a limatation,
it was more like "dude, u hear about the new 4 track? Imagine what u could do with 4!!!"
i know u must be joking, thats so not paul, lol.

I made alot of fun music with 4 track. It'd be hard to make and release something with it, especially if you wanted some kind of stereo happening.
