"I will arrange for my MP to receive a copy of Richard Dawkins' book "The God Delusion" but only if 645 other people (one per UK constituency) will do the same for other MPs."

This strikes me as a good idea. I'm posting this here in case there's support from other (especially UK) folks who might not have already seen this.
(I'm aware that there are folks who'd rather not read about politics stuff here. I can sympathise, and i'll try to balance this kind of thing with primarily music related posts too)
Other Stuff
Numerology: who's using it? Itching to give this a try this week. Thoughts? reviews?
The butcher: maxmsp device link would it be possible to use this as a plugin somehow? (of would it need converting by someone who owns max msp into a different format?)

You sound quite sure you know what my wish is, but you're way off the mark again.
I'm not interested in 'enforcing' any set of beliefs. I'm interested in promoting Free Thinking.

my opinion is that if someone were to pursue the issue of religious influence in politics and other areas they should do so very carefully and with incredible seriousness. and i don't think a bunch of kids on the internet are the right people to uptake the task. i think they lack the sense of responsibility to do it in the correct manner, they don't think it warrants serious handling and that shows lack of empathy and respect.
(i also suspect that some, not all, of the atheists i see on messageboards blame religion for the realisation that they are mortal - it's a difficult thing to accept and i think religion gets the vented pressure which is why there's so much mockery (the bbc religious messageboards are a prime example), it diverts attention away from them really thinking deeply about the issue at hand, rather than staring the problem in the face it's easier to go on a crusade and vent spleen).

bollocks - you want to promote your own version of free thinking (with your own rules and boundaries)

@soft - akin to how hitler turned the germans against the jews, it's the only thing i can think of that accounts for the amount of vitriol (not here, but on some religious/anti-religious forums) from younger people. i did go on to try and explain a little better if you read the second sentence.

no, i don't think you take this issue seriously enough apart from your own pov. again, i think there's a lack of empathy.
freedom of speech has nothing to do with right or wrong. i never suggested it did.
