"I will arrange for my MP to receive a copy of Richard Dawkins' book "The God Delusion" but only if 645 other people (one per UK constituency) will do the same for other MPs."

This strikes me as a good idea. I'm posting this here in case there's support from other (especially UK) folks who might not have already seen this.

(I'm aware that there are folks who'd rather not read about politics stuff here. I can sympathise, and i'll try to balance this kind of thing with primarily music related posts too)

Other Stuff

Numerology: who's using it? Itching to give this a try this week. Thoughts? reviews?

The butcher: maxmsp device link would it be possible to use this as a plugin somehow? (of would it need converting by someone who owns max msp into a different format?)

it really depends on the situation. some people deserve to suffer for good reason, and i wouldn't act out of compassion to prevent their suffering. compassion is a very dangerous thing, you can't let it control your life.

and its not really acting out of compassion as much as it is an opposition to the ideologies of racism. i'm no more or less compassionate to a jew than i am the next man. and i wouldn't hesitate to let an individual suffer if he has it coming to him ... no matter what race.
kids must suffer a whole mess of shite before they can become good, intelligent, and worthy adults.
its a part of existence itself.
I'm having a hard time discerning what your point is. here's my stance, please let me know what problem (if any) you see with it:

It's a 'good thing' to try to minimise the total amount of human suffering (sometimes this means causing suffering to save greater suffering, in the case of punishment, war etc).
