--> I've been wanting one since the first time I read about them. So this weekend I took the plunge and splashed out for a used one (sans UW). Got it yesterday and this is what I think about it.

The good:
+ Very, very intuitive (with a few snags, more about them later)
+ Parameter locks!
+ Parameter locks again. Like automation but dumber/lovelier.

The bad:
- After making a sweet pattern, entering the song mode REPLACED THE PATTERN WITH THE PREVIOUSLY DEFINED ONE SAVED IN THE SONG. Pissed me off to no end.

The ugly:
- The knobs do not feel as sturdy as the rest of the machine. At all.
- The red LCD looks good, but lacks in clarity and contrast
- I fear I love step sequencing a bit too much

Next step:
Hook it up to my micro modular for a tiny tiny drum & synth setup on the go

And speaking of step sequencing... how 'bout that Guru, eh? Effing nice.

i downloaded the GURU demo to try out in audiomulch. it's super dope for drums and weirdness. unfortunately mulch couldn't make save snapshots of the jillion parameters in it so i couldn't really use it the way i wanted so i passed on it. mulch needs a killer diller drummachine like guru or even half of what guru is.

Guru was cool, but the universal binary is chock fulla bugs. The sequencer was cool, but I found it required too much clicking around to get anything accomplished. So yeah, bah to Guru...

i thought using it just for drums was pretty easy peasy. it just had too much for mulch to keep track of. i guess i'm used to lot's of mousing around though.

Yeah, I liked the sequencer, but there were lil' things that made me uncomfortable. I'm a big undo guy myself and there's only one step undo. That wasn't good enough, also I kept having it crash on me with certain file types. I don't know, just something about it I don't like. I'm gonna stick with Battery until then...

What I'd really like is if FXpansion released the Guru sequencer so I could use it to sequence my beats via Live.

that'd be dope.

embrace the step sequencing, QY700 ftw.

The weird trick I liked was how things sounded strange when you switch kits... so I'd make a bunch of 1 or 2 step paterns with different kits and chain them together as one beat.

weirdness...
