I once had an HP OmniBook 500 laptop - the hard drive light was an ultra-bright blue LED, aimed up at exactly 45 degrees off the front bezel of the keyboard. Right into my eyes, if the laptop was at approximately typing level. WTF?
I opened it up and added a small piece of white cardboard in front of the LED, then put it all back together. problem solved.

To dampen those irritating blue leds just apply a small blob of glue, it acts as a very neat diffuser. You can otherwise sand the tip of the led with a dremel or fine sandpaper, that works nice too. LED mods is my speciality.
Replacing them with cool white ones is best.

ignatius said: "bleen.. you need more stuff on top of your G5. are those HD's? which portico is that? and how are the aurora converters??? nice and tidy place. sort of slutty!"
yeah, all drives on the G5 - mostly client drives. the portico is the compressor. it's so good it should be illegal!. the aurora's are excellent converters, but even better is the top-secret/photoshopped piece it's hooked into via AES....
