--> so last night Matt and I did an Unrecognizable Now photo shoot at the studio I work at. Pehr said that they needed some photos so we came up with this overhead thing with some music equipment that we use live.
some of them turned out pretty cool. we have a ton of them to weed out.
Ignatius already spotted one on our virb page. it's hard to sneak one by that guy!

thanks everyone!
yeah, I have quite a few toy pianos. portland thrift stores always seem to have them.
melodicas too!

-pawel, that seamless paper is REALLY fucking expensive. the 12' ones are crazy $$$. that is another benefit of working at a commercial photo studio... they've got tons of it. we thought of doing the blur thing but once the camera was mounted on the rafters we would need the scissor lift to change the ISO.

Awesome... Esp. that music box. Do you do any of your own sequencing with that little guy?

great photos! It kinda reminds me of some work by Michael England. link

wow. love the photos. love yous guys music so much. probably my current favorite here on emerican idol. make that definately. i am so picking up the album online today.

i wish i could see you live, do you have any live footage or anything? im curious as to how you do the balance of instruments / computer.

again the photos are brilliant.

i wish we had something like that.. while we only got some fake croma key...

mlbot- yeah, we do all our own sequencing on that little guy. it has these strips of paper (like a piano roll) that you punch holes in and feed them in. just like a mini player piano.

bluermutt- I love fake croma key!!! that is a great photo.

Great pics! Original and really crisp! Good colors! Plus, it involves GEAR!!! But where is the pad kontrol???
god damn i love those pics. and yeah, bleen's totally right, it does remind me a bit of that dosh video.

it's funny, the first time I looked at the smaller ones I thought it was regular photos of you guys cut into the gear shots. sometimes the way you are leaning in the chair messes with my brain. And that's why these are so great, they make you stop and really pay attention for a second to get a grip on what's going on. brilliant

these are really fing great.

I also thought at first that these were collaged, it's extra impressive that these were shot as is.

Completely awesome stuff!

They're all great, but I love the first one. It's sort of got an over/understated vibe (aka slick as F, but not trying too hard)...

wicked stuff man. PROPS.

it'd be better if one of you were bald and there was a shiney scalp staring back at us.

Sort of reminds me of something we did.

haha totally! i remember that one
