--> hola amigos...

i recently upgraded live and have so far enjoyed it but i've had some consistent crashes when moving small clips in arrange view. also, werid stuttered playback that actually sometimes sounds really cool but is mostly annoying.

i've been frustrated w/the last two versions of live. 5 was always buggy for me.. i'm hoping 6 will be better or at least good enough to use w/o smashing things...

i've cruised the live forum and found other peeps w/same problem. i guess there are issues w/some plugins.. waves mostly because waves conspires to drain your wallet w/every x.x update from every software developer on the planet..

anyway- just wondering how live 6 is working for you peeps and if you've discovered/solved any probs you've had.. if any...

i haven't tried live6 on the PC lappy yet.. only the G5 desktop so maybe its fine on PC.. i don't know..

i suppose its inevitable considering how much more ambitious each version is than the last

live has always been rock solid for me. i have live 6.0.5 and never had problems with crashes (mac os x 10.4.8 on powerbook G4 867Mhz).

The only problem that i have at times is with sends (which is tedious since i use sends a lot).
for no apparent reason some channel that was routed to a send will stop being routed, even if the send is opened.

To solve that issue i have either to delete and reload the clip in session view, or to adjust the send level on the track.
Recent blogs: first blog!

strange. Ive had no live6 crashes on my mac. Did you try disabling the waves plugins for a while to see if it helps?

I had problems when I first updated to Live 5 but finally got some stability with version 5.3 (I only get the stuttery stuff now when dropping Reaktor 5 into a track during playback) so I'm sticking with that for the time being.

it doesn't disappear enough for it to be a deal-breaker (thx to the automatic restore from saved undop history), but no way would i trust it in a "live" situation. those who are having the poof problems should post their entire system specs. maybe there's a common thread and we can get to the bottom of this groovy mystery.

Try adjusting your latency. I had some crashing issues a while back without warning and the latency on my soundcard was the culprit, the ableton team had no clue.

I just got Live, and I've been trying to catalogue my crashes to figure out what is normal and what isn't.

I think the 6.0.5 patch helps a bit

But, yeah, I get those moving clips crashes. I also get the "too much CPU useage, insteadf of stttering I'm gonna crash" crashes.

I also used up my scratch disk somehow, even though I had 40 GB of free space on my HD. Maybe I need to power up my second HardDrive?

But the funiest funniest moment of all was this morning when I figured out that a large number of crashes were due to the batteries on my wireless mouse being low. I thought Live was freezing randomly. But it was just my mouse going dead (and then revivifying itself? wtf!)

HAHAHA good thing I didn't buy any new hardware to try to solve that problem!!!!!

I haven't had any problems with Live 6 on the mac. I have had some on the PC. I think it has to do with some plugins. It rescans for plugins on startup and some (especially the waves plugins) will cause it to be unstable. It might suck... but try emptying your vst folder and incrementally put stuff in and see if the stability improves.

i crash all the time.
also... i need more RAM.
also...i'm glad it autosaves.
also...

stable on my powerbook, but takes ages to load up and even longer to quit, even when there's no files loaded

Ableton support is pretty good. Hit em up. They'll analyze your log/crash files and hopefully find the bug
