Um, let's see here,
I have been looking at this website for quite a while, but I never ever ever posted here because I'm pretty shy. But now I'm working by myself in Houston for 2.5 weeks and I am so bored...so sorry in advance:
I live in Portland, OR. I am a camera operator/video editor usually for work, but at the moment I am doing the place I work for a favor and keeping an eye on a traveling exhibit. In this case it means sitting in a building lobby all day every day while very rich and busy people look at me and wonder "what the hell is this exhibit in my way for?" maybe they even wonder "that would probably suck to have to sit there in the corner all day" but I doubt it because they all work at a bank so they are probably thinking about ways to take my money.
My musical history is like this: I started cello at age 7 which I played somewhat well untill I was about 19. Along with that I played a tuba for 2 years in a highschool marching band, and bass guitar from about age 15 to 22 or so. I was in a couple of go-nowhere bands in highschool and college. I got my first synth in college as well as a mighty pentium 1 computer which ran Cool Edit Pro (version 1) very slowly. It all went downhill from there. Fast forward a bit, when I moved to Portland I left everything behind except my computer with Reason, so I used that a lot for quite a long time, but most recently I picked up a really inexpensive Nord Modular 1 rack because while I would love a "true" modular at some point, I travel a ton for my job and being able to bring Nordy and my Oxygen 8 along is really handy for long nights in sucky hotels. I also enjoy recording things with my Zoom H4 thingy.
To counteract my sitting in front of a computer all the time I do lots of hiking with my permanant girlfriend and even more whitewater kayaking without her.
Here is some sounds I made that I've posted on freesound:

and of course a Virb page since I never got myspace to work for me:

Thanks for reading/listening.

Whoa. Thanks again for the kindness. I will do my best to make worthwhile remarks but don't get your hopes up.
Pawel: I couldn't agree more. I love the ocean. I like to piss off surfers by surfing my kayak.
datathinner: I'm sure there is plenty going on in Houston it is so huge. Perhaps you can recommend something. And can you answer for me if it is always so windy here? I would like to get some field recordings but it has been really windy for at least a week now.
j_chot: You are certainly right. But banks just freak me out for some reason. And I have to sit in the lobby of a gigantic bank building all day. Seriously freaky.
whitecar: I would be happy to record at some point, just be patient.
tooth: Being shy is strange. I assume everyone posting is naked and enjoying Mr. Crowe as much as you, this is why I didn't post. But now I'm guilty. I'm more likely to get naked than talk to you.
I'll shut up now.
