More practicing.. and an adjustment to the diagram. The bottom right hand pad is used to trigger a 1/2 bar rhythmic phrase on the first beat of the bar. When i noticed that I thought it made sense to skip trying to practice that for a while because it seemed like one extra thing to think about.. in fact i'm finding that playing the rest of the hits along to something thats already has a rhythmic structure makes it much easier to develop better timing.

man, i gotta buy you album. I watch this little utub clip like 10 times. Love it.

ahh dope thanks es (im understanding why there are so few good reference vids of finger drumming around.. i guess you need a second person filming over your shoulder to get a really good face-on view of the pads)

I thought this would really interest you:

(btw: the 'create tinyUrl firefox extension is really handy.. since youtube urls stopped working except in blog OPs)

link another one.

it looks like the korg thing has very sensitive pads, or the guy just has special fingers.. handy that the pads light up.
It's his mid and ring finger in test2. Lovely flams !!! I thought ejectorset's has pretty interesting drumming too.

this type of stuff is obviously if you're trying to become some kind of mpd virtuoso, and are planning on doing lots of practice. it'd be the same pretty much as proper desk position for something like typing. (if you're like me, you take this stuff for granted until you feel pain-but by that time, it's too late)

ahh i see, yes, thanks.

Here's me messing with the Roland MV-8800 drummachine -- trying to do one every week or so.

Dig the vids. Makes me want to grab the drum machine.
