More practicing.. and an adjustment to the diagram. The bottom right hand pad is used to trigger a 1/2 bar rhythmic phrase on the first beat of the bar. When i noticed that I thought it made sense to skip trying to practice that for a while because it seemed like one extra thing to think about.. in fact i'm finding that playing the rest of the hits along to something thats already has a rhythmic structure makes it much easier to develop better timing.

yeah, your hands could do with being a bit more tai chi, loosey goosey baby..
neat tho

edit: your hands look a bit like talons in the still from the vid!

my hands _are_ like talons.. but soon they will be relaxed-er talons.

argh, I gave up finger drumming...just sold my trigger finger :-P

hot dood. Those are a good point astroid about the stretches. I have passed the pain point, but I took a long time off, so now hopefully my fingers have fixed themselves.

Cbit, you mentioned that you have your thing fixed at the most sensitive, do you remember what the pad curve was? I cannot figure out how to set my mpd to a position that doesn't feel like I am banging my fingertips off.

Inspiring! thanks for the video. If I manage to work up to that proficiency, I will be sure to post a vid.

oops, double post.

jonbro: the curve i selected was the most convex one, but for these vids i'm using 'full levels' anyway

when do we get a new practice video?

why does this clip sound cooler than your tracks on em411? I think it's because it has a "Beat".

gots more like this? Is this more like your live sound?

Sometime after i start practicing again that fcb footboard thing arrived today so as soon as there's room to set stuff up in the basement i'll be busy with this stuff again.looking into looping+layering techniques at the moment..

The live stuff is beaty-er than the other stuff i guess.. there are no 'proper' recordings of it though.. here's a short recording of my live set that soft made in weimar: link
