--> So. I'm contemplating going to college and getting a degree. Thing is, I'm 26 yrs now, and have been working full time since I was 19. No college education to speak of (a little part time math and that's it).

Has anyone here been in the same position, perhaps done the same thing? Frankly, the prospect scares the living hell out of me, yet the prospect of becoming stuck in a rut because I lack a proper theoretical background scares me even more.

Edit: The program I'm looking at is 5 years long.

yyah if its "free" as in you dont have to pay a tuition.. u'd be dumb not to go. jeebus H christ mang

sure ain't free in the great old usofa. i'm still paying that shit off. if you're some place where it's free, then go. if you're some place that costs, then work your way through. do whatever you gotta do to pay for each semester free and clear. no loans, no loans, no loans. did i mention, no loans? good! remember, no loans. noose around your neck.

yeah crabs, if its free, you have NO excuse not to!
I'm about to graduate with $20K in debt over school, not to mention having spent years unable to work a decent job b/c of school schedule!
Both of my parents went back in their early 50s.

same with deltasleep. my loans and my parents both went back to school late. in their fifties, my father is now a real estate broker and my mom is an RN. If my mom can take two years of chemistry in one semester, you can survive normal schedules, mr. audio smarty-pants!

my bro went back at 31. got a degree in history.

my mom went back in her 40's got comp sci degrees.

usa peeps would kill for free college. i'd go back in a heartbeat if it was free. no question.

good luck.

I'm 33 and have about three semesters of school left. I love being in school now, and highly recommend it. I do wish I didn't have to deal with all of the loans, though.
Recent blogs: Score !

I'm 26 too and my interviews on the 19th of this month.
It was this site (and links from this site) that got me interested in the course which is Electronic Engineering.

Co-inceedink!

Follow your intuition, if you want a career where you need a credential then go, otherwise you can just build a reputation / portfolio / work experience.

But you need to define your career, you should have an idea what that is by now.

this blog reminds me of a Lambchop song.
