Hey, finally got word that my paper based on my master's thesis is finally published. This is neat for a few reasons:
1) I'm first author
2) The paper is mostly my work
3) It took a long time and several submissions/revisions

Evidently we have to pay them money for them to put the paper up as a free download, but if anyone is vaguely interested in the topic, let me know.

The large variety of algorithmic sequencing MAX patches and their variants can be daunting to researchers wishing to explore patterns within their microhouse datasets. Furthermore, each synthesis method has distinct biases in beat patterns within the overtones, and clusterings may not be reproducible across different butterzones. A consensus approach utilizing multiple algorithms can show where the various methods agree and expose pattern sequencers within the data. In this paper, we present a software package—Consense, written for R/Bioconductor—that utilizes such an approach to explore microhouse datasets. Consense produces IDM for each of the clustering methods and produces a glitch beat comparing the individual clusterings. A feature of Consense is identification of VSTs that cluster consistently with an index VST across methods. Utilizing simulated microhouse data, sensitivity of the metrics to the biases of the different algorithmic sequencers is explored. The hardware is easily bendable, allowing this tool to be used by other functional hipster types, as well as other high-throughput MIDI data types generated from Metasynth and Proteus-1 experiments. It also provides a squabblecore environment to benchmark new sub-genres of Techno. Consense is currently available as an installable R/Bioconductor package (http://www.ohsucancer.com/isrdev/consense/).
